TAPKOP is located on a small hillside called Maruyama in Akan-Mashu National Park.
Akan-Mashu National Park is characterized by three lakes, Akan, Mashu, and Kussharo, which were created by volcanic activity, their topography, and a primeval forest centered on subarctic coniferous forests.
The area around TAPKOP is surrounded by nature, such as the headwaters of the Kushiro River, the source of the Kushiro Marsh, Lake Kussharo, Lake Mashu, and Mt. Io.
